HEALTH AND SPIRITUAL REASONS SEX SHOULD WAIT TILL MARRIAGE: PART 2B

Welcome once again to a blissful read, I hope you have read part 1 and 2A? If not kindly glance through.


 In the last post we discussed about how health is viewed in three aspects of man and we picked one as a focus, that was the physical; or should I say those reason as touching your body, we explored that in the last post and I sure got some feedbacks. The remaining aspects of health according to world health organization is the mental and the social aspects of health. Here you go!

The mental and social reasons you may want to consider delaying sex till marriage.


The psychological (mental) reasons;



  • Psychological breakdown is not far fetch in the game of premarital sex. No matter what, there's usually a level of doubt and fear of whether he or she might be with another person, fear of whether he or she will be able to overcome sexual sins with another person or when under pressure to do so. 

  • When sex is involved before marriage, there's a risk of  break-up and some people may not be able to handle this which is common especially when either of the partners has seen someone more beautiful and well packaged. Some may end up with depression and other psychiatric illness. It is very easy to walk away from a relationship if needed when sex is not involved.

  • Emotional manipulations and premarital bonding could result from premarital sex. This is the stage that love becomes blind and you are not able to change your mind about the person. You are bonded to the person, your decisions and judgments may be clouded, you won't be able to make straight decision as regard the exact type of person you really want to marry.  Everyone might be telling you one thing or the other about the person but you won’t listen. I heard of a woman who said that the man she plans to marry beats her because of his love for her. Well, I hope we know that first, true love is not blind, and that marriage is an eye opener and a great teacher.

  • In cases where pre-marital sex leads to pregnancy, psychological maturity is needed to be a mother. Being a mother early in life and outside marriage when one is not psychologically ready is a great deal. Coping can become difficult especially when the father of the baby is not buoyant financially or is not supportive and being a single mum is not palatable. One can only imagine the rest of the story.
Generally in life, whatever decision you take including decision to continue having sex premaritally will take its toll on your mind and soul.

Social reasons you should hold on about premarital sex.

  • When challenges start and  coping mechanism is reducing, it is possible that such person develop some defects in interaction with people. The person might become depressed and may start withdrawing from people or social gatherings due to loss of self esteem, and demeaning self image.  Most of the social effects are the aftermath of the psychological effect. 

  • Drug and alcohol abuse can result from premarital sex. One thing leads to another, someone got jilted after sharing her body or after spending so much of his money, depression sets in and alcoholism starts. This in turn can lead to physical effects in the body and the ripple effects goes on and on. Drugs and alcohol abuse can lead to suicide or even homicide in the bid to take revenge from an unfaithful partner.
Looking at this now, you will bear me witness that pre marital sex could be a root cause of increased crime rate and death among youths. Well, it's good to enjoy everything that comes your way but it is wisdom to consider very well those things that has timing and can have a great toll on our health. Let's see a quote to end this.
