YOUR HEALTH IN THIS HEAT; how to cope with hot weather.
Glory to God for another opportunity to write for my readers to read. How are you doing? Has God done a thing? Has He not done what you have been asking? Have you tried praising Him? I learnt in church service this evening that when prayer seems failing you should try praise......
My readers, how far with this heat? .... Yesterday, I had to go to the market to get a rechargeable fan, I couldn't keep generator on in the night and the PHCN (popularly called NEPA) is not helping matter not to talk of the DisCo company that is dancing disco...lolz. This heat is too much....it is well.
I thought about how my people are going to cope with the heat and I decided to do a quick write up on how to stay healthy during this heat...
Who else can't wait for the rain?.... Wao...
Here are my tips on how to cope in this weather.
1. Avoid sun as much as possible, get a sun screen from the pharmacist and apply on your skin as directed. (You can contact me on proper usage of sunscreen)
2. Adequate hydration. Drink at least 3L of water per day. It will replace excessive fluid loss from sweat.
3. Use body cream that will reduce sweating.....(contact me on choice of cream this time)
4. Take a cool shower before bed, it will help a lot.
5. Shower as many times as possible even during the day.
6. Avoid wearing dark or red clothes to bed...they absorb heat.
7. Take cold, chilled water/drinks after a long walk in the sun or after sweating so much.
8. Block sun rays from entering you room, use window blinds.
9. Open doors and windows during the day....and window only at night.
10. Make use of your air conditioner if you have one.
11. Don't assume all rashes now are heat rashes, seek the advice of a medical practitioner.
12. Wear light clothes especially for children.
13. Wear other color of clothes apart from black, red and brown.
14. Do not repeat clothes worn the previous day which might be smelling due to increased sweat.
15. Deodorant and body spray will be of advantage especially among crowd.
16. Reduce too much coverage of infant and little children during this period, wear them more of light clothes of brighter colors.
Your goals in this weather are to
1. Prevent any skin reaction to heat (urticaria for example).
2. Prevent dehydration.
3. Optimize your sleep time.
4. Prevent heat stroke, heat exhaustion and other effects of hot weather
Let me end with this, yesterday night I woke up feeling very hot and sweaty, even when my fan was on. I thought about what might be happening and I realized I was wearing a black cloth, I remembered we were thought in elementary science that dark clothes absorb heat....and you won't believe that the heat disappeared as soon as I removed my dark top.... Lolz.
I hope this will be helpful. God bless you. Kindly share with friends.
